Sharing the story behind the picture, he wrote, “On june 16 th, 2013 a massive cloud burst along with the bursting of chorabari lake that sat way up on the mountains above the kedarnath temple, brought down an unimaginable amount of water that eventually destroyed innumerable villages and thousands lost their lives. Despite all that destruction the temple stood its ground. This was due to a massive boulder that rolled down and parked it self right behind the temple and protected it.. all the prayers and faith of pilgrims and the power of shiva made that possible.. But now, the film has hit troubled waters once again. Days after the trailer of the film was released, it received backlash from priests of the temple town who demanded a blanket ban on the Abhishek Kapoor directorial. The teerth purohits of Uttarakhand’s Chardham have said that the movie hurts Hindu religious sentiments by as it promotes ‘love jihad’.

The chairman of the priests based in Kedarnath, Vinod Shukla reportedly said that they will launch an agitation if the movie is not banned as they have been told that it hurts the Hindu religious sentiments by promoting ‘love jihad'(an alleged campaign under which Muslim men target the non-Muslim women for conversion to Islam).

The chairman further added that the priests had also protested against the film when its “vulgar dance sequences” were being shot around Kedarnath shrine. Incidentally, locals have already started protesting against its release.

Ajendra Ajay, a state BJP leader has also demanded a ban on the film. While tweeting his unhappiness on his social media account, he said that protests have already begun in Rudraprayag and Kotdwar and tagged the chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification, Prasoon Joshi for the film to be banned.

Ajay said that “The movie appears to be an effort to promote love jihad. Couldn’t the director find a single Hindu name or character for the main lead? Also, kissing and romantic scenes in a holy place worshipped by crores of people are a disrespect to the religion.”

A year-long wait is finally coming to an end with director Abhishek Kapoor finally unveiling the official poster of his film ‘Kedarnath’, starring debutante Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput. Ahead for the big teaser launch on Tuesday, the director took to social media to unveil the first poster that actually features the two leads, front and centre, as their characters Mansoor – a porter who helps pilgrims on their journey, and Mukku – a rebellious young pilgrim.

“No tragedy, no wrath of nature, no act of God can defeat the power of love! Presenting the official #KedarnathPoster‬, teaser out at 12 noon,” Abhishek captioned the poster.

Speaking about his upcoming film, Abhishek said, “’Kedarnath’ is an epic tale of love set against an ancient and divine landscape. Yet, it narrates a compelling story for contemporary times and draws in the viewers’ attention towards the powerful message conveyed. The cast and crew are fervent believers, and the integrity of their efforts resonates in every frame of this film.

Set against the backdrop of the 2013 floods that left thousands dead, the film revolves around a 14-km pilgrimage from Gauri Kund to Kedarnath. It is touted to be a blend of love and religion, passion and spirituality.

After much delay, the film will finally hit theatres on December 7.

Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput’s ‘Kedarnath’ to release in March 2019?

Touted to be Sara Ali Khan’s debut project, ‘Kedarnath’ was much in the news with producer Prerna Arora leaving the picture, forcing this Abhishek Kapoor directorial to be taken over by Ronnie Screwala. November 30 was later announced as the film’s release date. But if the latest reports are to be believed, the film will only hit the theatres next year in March and now Rohit Shetty’s ‘Simmba’ will be considered as her debut film since it releases in December this year.

With Ronnie’s Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam-starrer, ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’, slated to release in January, and Abhishek Chaubey’s ‘Sonchiriya’, also with Sushant, to open in February, ‘Kedarnath’ has been reportedly pushed to March. However, the makers are yet to zero in on a specific date it seems.

Soon after wrapping the final schedule of the film in August, director Abhishek Kapoor had said that Kedarnath has been his toughest shoot ever.

Saif Ali Khan comes to daughter Sara Ali Khan’s rescue as ‘Kedarnath’ producers take her to court over date issues

Saif Ali Khan has now actively taken the charge of daughter Sara Ali Khan’s Bollywood career as the newcomer has been facing unending issues with regard to her debut film. After the fallout between the makers of her first project ‘Kedarnath’, director Abhishek Kapoor’s production house Guy In The Sky Pictures had dragged her to the court over her date issues. But Saif Ali Khan came to Sara’s rescue and has now convinced the opposing parties to settle it out of the court.

For the record, the ‘Kedarnath’ producers moved the Mumbai High Court to direct her to complete her first commitment first and demanded ₹ 5 crore as damages. The film was delayed due to production rifts and meanwhile, Sara had signed Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar’s ‘Simmba’ opposite Ranveer Singh. She had agreed to shoot ‘Kedarnath’ but on being informed that the shoot would stretch through May till July 5, her agent said she would not be available in June since she has to go for another film, which according to the suit is a “breach” of the agreement.

Saif, however, has convinced Abhishek Kapoor and party to discuss the matter with KJo and Rohit Shetty outside the court and find out a solution. So, the case which was to be heard on Tuesday may not proceed now if things fall in place.
