34/51Sonu Sood fires back at Kangana Ranaut

After Kangana Ranaut lashed out at Sonu Sood for stepping out of ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’, because he wasn’t allegedly ready to shoot under a female director and wasn’t giving dates to reshoot some portions of the film; the latter has reacted to the comment of “vehemently denying to work under a woman director”.

Sonu said in an official statement,”Kangana is a dear friend and she will always remain one but this constant playing the woman card, the victim card and making this entire issue about male chauvinism is ridiculous. The gender of the director is not the issue. Competence is. Let’s not confuse the two. I’ve worked with Farah Khan who’s a competent woman director and Farah and I had a great professional equation and we are still best of friends. That’s all I would like to say.”

With Sonu out of the picture, Kangana confirmed that they will be reshooting his portions with someone else now.

35/51Is this why Sonu Sood walked out of the Kangana Ranaut starrer?

Sonu Sood has been all over the news recently following his reported exit from his upcoming film ‘Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi’. While there is no denying that the recent turn of events must have left the actor upset, here is what source close to the actor has to say on this.

“Sonu, who is currently working on Rohit Shetty’s ‘Simmba’, was recently asked to reshoot portions for Manikarnika by co-star Kangana Ranaut. With a change in the team, the script and the roles too have undergone changes at the very last minute. Sonu, who is currently sporting a beard for ‘Simmba’, was been asked to clean shave for his role in ‘Manikarnika’. While the actor was open to shooting a few scenes for the film and work around the clock to accommodate this request, he suggested filming the portions that required him to be clean shaved post his ‘Simmba’ schedule,” source explained.

Elaborating further, the source added, “Sonu has always been very committed to all his projects and does what is required for his films. He could not accommodate the new dates and redo his look for ‘Manikarnika’, as he wasn’t informed about it earlier. While he does understand the issues the makers of ‘Manikarnika’ are facing, it would be unacceptable for any actor to reshoot portions and new scenes, owing to a change in director, the script and the role at the very last minute.”

When contacted said the actor’s spokesperson, he said, “Sonu has always been a thorough professional and honoured all his commitments. He had informed the makers of ‘Manikarnika’ about his dates and schedule well in advance. Causing inconvenience to the team of his current film, to accommodate the demands of another is against his professional principles. Sonu has taken the higher road ahead and wishes the team of ‘Manikarnika’ all the best.”
